Su`ud ibn `Abdullah Al Mi`aqly
Compulsion has reached its peak when the occupation introduced, almost two years ago, a compulsory law to force Muslim girls who reached 18 years of age to leave their countries and move to be as workers in its factories. Furthermore, it created a special committee to follow-up the execution of that unjust law until the number of girls who were affected by that decision reached 50.000. Many of those who were sent to work have subjected to rape and prostitution, whereas not a few number of them preferred suicide to preserve their chastity. As for the families which refused to send their girls, they were considered as violating the law and consequently were exposed to all kinds of torture and humiliation inside prisons of which animals complain.

This is happening in countries from which celebrities, who had a great effect on the Islamic civilization, emerged such as: Al Bukhari, Muslim, Al Bayhaqy, Muhammad ibn Musa Al Khawarizmy, Abu Ar-Rayhan Al Bayruny, Abu Al Layth As-Samarqandy, Muhammad ibn Al Husayn Al Faraby who was known as Ibn Nabatah, the ascetic Imam `Abdullah ibn Al Mubarak, Al Fudayl ibn `Iyad, the great Imam Sufyan Ath-Thawry, among others whose names were written in the memory of Islam.

We are talking about a wound that is still bleeding, about daily execution for youth in early age without a crime, about ethnic cleansing that history has never witnessed, and about a long series of humiliation for great Sheikhs who could not defend themselves but only can cry and their tears flow down their cheeks. We are also taking about compulsion of old women whose backs were bended of old age, about brutal torture ceremonies in cells that the dearest wish to their dwellers is death, and about kidnap and rape for chaste Muslim girls who can find no way but to kill themselves lest they may endure the disgrace.

It is East Turkistan; that land of which "the dynasty of the Ottoman," the rulers of the Ottoman State, descended. That State could expand the domination of Islam in Europe, as it could guard the Muslim countries against the crusader invasion and colonial expansion for more than four centuries. In the second Abbasid era, Eastern Turkistanians played a great role in the Islamic history, such as Tulunids, Ikhshidid dynasty, Great Seljuq Empire, and the Khwarezmian dynasty.

Thus, during the ten centuries that followed the emergence of the Turkistanians in the history of Islam Eastern Turkistanians had a great effect in defending Muslim frontiers, saving it from collapse, and stopping the crusader crawl. The beginning of Islamic arrival to Turkistan was in the time of Caliph `Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) at the hand of Al Hakam ibn `Amr Al Ghifary (may Allah be pleased with him) but the real victory stage was at the hand of the brave leader Qutaybah ibn Muslim Al Bahily during the period of 86-94 AH. Since then, its people turned gradually into Islam as a result of the cultural connection with Muslims until almost one million persons embraced Islam under the leadership of "Stauff Pegrakhan," the emperor of "Algara Khanate" in 323 AH.

The Rightly Guided Caliphs and the following caliphs were keen to share the administration of the countries with their people and treated them fairly in a way reflected the real image of Islam, which in turn, caused the people of Eastern Turkistan to embrace Islam in groups. The Turkistanian element in the Islamic history emerged along with the empowerment of the Abbasid Caliph "Al Mu`tasim" the one who opened Amorium for Islam.

His mother was a Turkistanian and was called "Mardah" most of "Al Mu`tasim" guards and army were form East Turkistan. The word Turkistan is composed of two words: "Turki" and "Stan" which means: The Turk's land. Its area is 1.6 million square km, occupying the nineteenth rank among the world countries in regard of area and its area equals threefold the area of France, whereas it makes up one-fifth of the total area of China. Its capital is "Ashgabat."

It is bounded from the north-west by Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan; and from the north-east the republic of Mongolia; and from the east the two districts of Jiangsu and Shanghai; and from the south-west India and Afghanistan. East Turkistan contains some important sites such as the desert of "Taklamakan" is known as the golden cradle of human civilization, and the "Silk Road" that linked the continent of Asia with Europe, as it includes many ancient monuments of old cultures that have not discovered yet.

East Turkestan is known for its oil and various mineral wealth, its oil reserves is about 8 billion tons, where about 5.000.0000 tons are exported yearly without the indigenous people benefitting from, as it extracts 118 kinds of minerals out of 148 kinds produced by China. Moreover, Turkistan contains half of the Chinese reserve of Coal and 360 kilos of gold are extracted from annually as it contains another six Uranium mines from the finest type. The population of East Turkistan is about 10 millions most of them from "the Uighur" tribes who were of Turkish origin centered, in general, in East Turkistan and they make up one of ten ethnic groups embraced Islam in the Popular Republic of China; Uighur means union and solidarity. The tribes of "the Uighur" live in what is so-called today Mongolia which forms with "Goktürk" the most powerful and biggest Turkish tribes that live in Central Asia. Uighur lived under a federal rule that was known as "the Rouran" from 460 AD until 565 AD thereafter they passed by a stage of weakness during which they were ruled by "The White Hun" then "Goktürk" "the Uighur" tribes could destroy the "Turkish Goktürk" empire in 744 AD with the help of another Turkish tribes and established a powerful empire that extended from the Caspian Sea in the west in the northeast of China and the two Koreas in the east. "the Uighur" empire continued and its capital was "Ordu-Baliq" until 840 AD then it passed by a series of severe famines and civil wars that led to the seizure of the Kyrgyz to the territory which pushed the Uighur to leave their kingdom and migrate to "Eastern Turkistan." There the Uighur established a state called "Algara Khanate" whose ruler called it "Kara Khan" and among them "Stauff Pegrakhan," to whom we referred in this article. This state continued until 1209 AD when "Genghis Khan" destroyed them.

East Turkestan and the Chinese occupation:

After the weakness of Muslims in East Turkistan, Chinese captured it in 1760, and the Chinese troops killed more than a million Muslims. The occupying troops applied what is now called the policy of "Subjecting East Turkistan to the rule of China" where it sent huge numbers of Chinese to it.

Consecutive violent revolutions erupted and did not die down throughout 100 years of which was the revolution of "Dungan" in 1825, which lasted for two years, and the revolution of "Jacob Bek" which began in 1855 and lasted for a long time, and their events were recorded in a book of 330 parts, then Muslims were able to gain the independence of East Turkistan in 1865.

However, the state neither found support nor recognition from the world, so China managed to occupy it again in 1875 after killing hundreds of thousands of Muslims.

East Turkistan was subjected to four Chinese fierce campaigns since 1860: twice in the Manchu Dynasty, once in the reign of the national China, and once in the era of the Communist China.

The campaigns have led to the extermination of many Muslim population of East Turkistan, and to the migration of many to neighboring areas.

The Turkistan revolutions against China were continuous and a violent revolution erupted in 1931 during which Muslims took shells in the highlands, and when the Chinese fell to put it out, they thought help from the Russian army, but Muslims gained victory over them which forced China to accept reality.

As a result, the "Uighur" declared the establishment of "the Islamic Republic of Eastern Turkistan", on 21 Rajab 1352 AH corresponding to November 12, 1933, and "Khojanyaz" was chosen as the head of state, and "Thabit Damla" as prime minister.

This government did not stay for a long time because the Chinese and Russian armies could overthrow the government after the martyrdom of Khojanyaz, and executed all the government members in addition to ten thousand Muslims in the 6 of Jumada II 1356 AH corresponding to August 15, 1937.

Another revolution took place under the leadership of "Ali Khan" in 1944 who declared the country's independence, but it was soon extinguished, then East Turkestan gained autonomy in 1946, and "Mas`ud Sabry," was appointed as the head of the government.

After the establishment of the PRC in 1949, the Communists conducted a brutal invasion to East Turkistan. After the heavy fight continued for twenty days, it fell in their hands and the number of mosques at the time was more than two thousand mosques.

Since the Communists began their occupation of committing a series of terrible massacres, which is said: affected about one million Muslims, followed by bringing large human blocks of Chinese immigrants in one of the largest occupation process in history.

The Communist occupation declared that Islam is convicted. Moreover, they abolished private property, enslaved Muslims, and closed Turkistan before Turkstanians: allowed no in or out.

It abolished religious institutions, demolished its buildings, made mosques clubs for its soldiers, made the Chinese language the official language of the country, replaced the teachings of the Quran with the teachings of "Mao Zedong," forced Muslim women to marry Chinese Buddhists, and changed the country's name to "Xinjiang", meaning in Chinese: the new colony.

Muslims tried once again in 1966 to perform Eid-ul-Adha prayer, but the Chinese troops blocked their way and killed them all. Thereafter, a massive revolution and a guerrilla war erupted during one of its months 75 thousand martyrs were killed.

This is one of the many examples which caused that valiant people against the Communist occupation, and what happened in the last year was not far away from us. Turkistanians revolted because 150 Uighur workers were killed after they had demonstrated for the delay of their salaries, but the Communist troops faced those unarmed workers harshly, killing 400 Muslims only in the first day.

As a natural result for all these massacres and organized deportations for the Muslims "Uighur" and replacing them with "Han" in large numbers. The number of Muslims began to decrease and became a minority in their land after they had been a majority. At the same time, they were subject to blurring of their religious and cultural identity, until many of them - especially young people - do not know anything thing about Islam but its name.

Moreover, to continue their envy against Islam and Muslims, the Buddhist Communists converted the land of East Turkistan to a place of nuclear experiments, buried their nuclear wastes, and tried all different kinds of atomic weapons, causing congenital malformations and peculiar diseases in some areas there.

China gives much care to its economic relationship with the Muslim world where it is connected economically with Muslim countries as most of the Chinese exports is taken by the Muslim world.

So, why do not we take advantage of these relations in pressing China to improve the treatment of Muslims there, modify their living conditions, lift the harsh restrictions imposed on the teaching of Islam, and allow them to practice its rituals!

These countries and their people do not deserve that harsh treatment and negligence from their Muslim brothers after their conditions have turned upside down and after the great role they played in defending Islam.

O leaders of the Muslims, scholars, and rulers, you should know that you shall be asked in your graves about the support you gave to Muslims in East Turkestan, so what answer did you prepare for that question?!
